Burkina Faso’s 19th biennial National Week of Culture

The 19th biennial National Week of Culture of Burkina Faso will take place on 24-31 March in Bobo-Dioulasso under the theme: “Preserving cultural values: Problems and challenges.”

The Ministry of Culture said that it had set up a national organizing committee composed of 19 commissions composed of 160 statutory members and 200 associate members.

According to the Minister of Culture, Abdul Karim Sango, the week’s activities offer all communities in Burkina Faso a single framework for artistic and cultural expression.

The National Week of Culture, which started in 1984, aims at promoting artistic and literary creation, upgrading of the national cultural heritage, reconciliation and harmonious exchange of different forms of cultural expressions and strengthening of international cultural cooperation.

It is held in Bobo-Dioulasso, the economic capital of Burkina Faso located at 360 km west of Ouagadougou, and brings brings together thousands of festival-goers.
